BASIC CONCEPTS FOR BILL OF MATERIALS

In the manufacturing industry, a list of requirements that must be met  to make the production process called bill of materials  , namely:   List of components or goods for the needs or manufacturing processes to meet the needs of the company, a list of items can be adjusted by the number of production requirements that will be required to produce finished or semi-finished suit of needs of each company.  

In a large-scale manufacturing industries, such as automotive companies: car or motorcycle there are hundreds if not thousands of items / components to form a car or motorcycle is,  then how to control it? ie the bill of materials or a list of order items. Why is the bill of materials is in need by the company? Bill of materials not only serve as a list of orders of goods alone but also on the need to determine the selling price of the product that will be sold, but it is also in use for a standard work process (SOP) in the formation of the component, in addition to the vital function of the bill of materials should be properly restrained, if there was a slight error as small as one to enter the amount of usage would be fatal (will not be shortage of goods and the production of goods or the excess will lead take place undue etc.).  

In the manufacturing bill of material has its own techniques to shape it, I will describe and parse the contained components or indicators of what should be in the know before creating a bill of materials. 

• Determining the type or types of bills of material for the product that will be created.

• Valid data that will be used as a reference in the creation of the bill of materials.

• Understand and master the system or application that is used for the manufacturing bill of materials (examples of application: SAAP, IFS, based Applications Web base, etc.).

• Determine numbering code instead of an item or pictures , usually every company has specialized in the numbering format item code.

• Understand and master level structure components / goods   before in shape.

• Understand and master the process   contained in a component. (Eg welding process, painting process, machining and other processes)

• Define and identify the item / items according to their function (eg, goods purchased or not purchased, the goods need to be in the process or in the process and others).

•  Formed with valid after checking.

• Perform regular checks to ensure the correct bill of materials.

 

From the above, we will be able to establish or create a bill of materials according to the needs of each company. Keep in mind that the manufacturing bill of materials must be done with care because the slightest mistake will adversely affect your company both financially and materially.
